Your First Homeopathic Interview
Homeopathy promotes a healing process on a deep energetic level and this process can potentially affect all levels of your being - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
A homeopath seeks to make a recommendation to assist you in your healing process through learning as much as possible about what is characteristic about you and the way you live in your world. In order to understand what is most characteristic about you, you will first be given the opportunity to speak as much as possible about what troubles you and then your homeopath will ask questions to elicit more details about your mental, emotional, physical, and general states, as well as about what events might have preceded these states and what causes them to change for the better or worse.
You may be surprised by the depth and variety of questions asked and wonder how they pertain to your complaints. Rest assured that each and every detail sought by your homeopath can assist her in understanding you as a whole person, not only from the perspective of a disease diagnosis. Questions you may be asked may cover anything, from head to toe, inside and out, conventionally diagnosed or simply felt by you. Specific information may be asked about sensations you feel, how you are affected by your symptoms, your emotions and other ways in which you experience a sense of limitation or dis-ease.
Homeopathy draws information from many sources and you may be asked about certain body language or gestures you use that you have not thought about before. You will also be asked to recall significant dreams –either recent or past.
There is no need to prepare for your first appointment. The only information you may be asked that may require preparation is that which pertains to your past medical history and medication: accidents, illnesses and chronic conditions, including their treatment and your response to the treatment; especially note any illness or treatment (including vaccinations or dental work) you have never been well since. A list of medications you are taking, the potency and dosage can be helpful. Your family medical history may be asked about as well (your parents, siblings, grandparents).
In the case of children, the homeopath will want to know as much as possible about the family background and the mother’s state during pregnancy and delivery. Any pertinent information about a child can be e-mailed in advance to assist in giving the homeopath background information that may be most appropriately conveyed away outside the child’s presence.
At the end of the interview you will have the opportunity to ask any questions that may have arisen for you during the process. If you have any questions now about your first visit, please feel free to call.

Recommendations for taking
homeopathic remedies

• Take this remedy only as directed by the homeopath, do not take an extra dose as you think you might need it. Remember in homeopathy, the minimum dose is the rule of action!

• Tip the full amount of the remedy found in the paper envelope into your mouth under your tongue without touching it at all with your hands. Let the tiny pellets dissolve in your mouth. If you touch them or drop them, discard them. Make sure you collect all the small pellets so that children or pets do not eat them.

• Do not put anything in your mouth –do not eat or drink- for at least 15 to 30 minutes either side of taking the remedy. Also avoid using anything on or in your body such as perfume, deodorant, toothpaste, etc.

• While you are on the remedy (the duration of which to be discussed with the homeopath), avoid coffee and using products containing mint, peppermint, spearmint, camphor (such as vicks, noxema, tiger balm, karmex, blistex, ben-gay, etc.) Also avoid dental work which involves drilling, grinding or ultra-sonic cleaning.

• If you are taking medications, take them at least 30 minutes before you take the homeopathic remedy.
• If you are not taking the remedy straight away, keep your remedy envelope out of direct sunlight, heat, cold or damp and away from other strong products such as essential oils, coffee, toothpaste, etc.

• Do not take ANY OTHER homeopathic remedy while on this treatment.
Please take your remedy in the evening before bed, according to the instructions above. Keep some paper and a pen beside your bed and make sure to write down your dreams the first night you take the remedy. Over the next few days, weeks before your next appointment, please keep a brief journal of all your symptoms and they feel, make sure you also note down anything unusual, your mental capacity, and how you feel, both energy level and how you feel emotionally. Note any changes in your hunger, desires, or thirst as well.
Should you begin to feel much worse and have any complications or questions, call me immediately and leave a brief message and I will return your call as soon as possible, (usually within a few hours). Should you be experiencing any emergency, please call 911 immediately.
Warm wishes for your good health!
